AMS HT - Things I wish I knew before getting one.

AMS HT - Things I wish I knew before getting one.

TLDR

  • Printer required to dry
  • Drying while printing NOT possible if feeding trough the AMS
  • Product for demanding materials not casual drying

As a long time Bambu Lab user coming from an Ender 3 setup where every print was a coin flip, my printer was having some print defects which I pinned down to my filament being wet. So after looking around for different dyers, I've decided to get my hands on the AMS HT, since I got it as a seemingly nice deal with gift cards. Pairing it up with the P1S Combo wasn't a big deal since I was planning on cleaning up my printing setup anyway. Going with this one meant I was locked into the Bambu garden since you can't dry without having a printer connected to it, nor the Studio or Bambu Handy allow you to start, stop or change the settings of it. From the first few hours of having it connected, I've experimented with different modes and found out that the drying does NOT work when printing with the filament that's inside, but if you spin up a print without a filament that's in the HT, it will keep drying.

The interface on the printer is clean and very P1S like with all of the options that I've expected it to have including a dialog for the rotation of the filament while dying. The HT is a perfect fit for filaments that demand drying, especially those that need higher temperatures since it goes up to 85℃. Featuring the automatic venting, it sometimes clicks but overall you can't even tell its drying next to the P1S.

Overall I think this product is a high end solution for drying from Bambu and it's nicely integrated into the workflow, but if you're trying to dry a set of filaments this tiny box wont cut it.
